Marseille Escrime Club organizes the Challenge Jeanty, Women’s Foil World Cup event. This international competition welcomes world’s best women fencers. The Challenge Jeanty was created 50 years ago by Master Leon JEANTY, who wished to organize a quick competition between his students. Years after years, this event has climbed the different ranks in the “hierarchy” of Fencing events, for reaching now the highest level. This competition is one of eight World Cup competitions, which crown the world’s best woman foil fencer of the year.

 

The 2012 edition of the Jeanty Challenge crowned Italian fencer Valentina VEZZALI , who won against her compatriot Arriana ERRIGO (15 vs 13). The Frenchwoman Astrid GUYART and Polish Malgorzata WOJTKOWIAK complete the podium.
